During my
first trip to Guatemala, our team of doctors saved a woman and
her baby's life by performing an emergency c-section. It made
me feel very proud to have been part of a team that performed
a miracle.
The happy smiles, and tears of gratitude of the family when a
child is returned to them looking beautiful after cleft lip
surgery is the best reward one can ever get.
Biography for Claire Seem
I was born, raised and educated in France. I went to college
to a French Grande Ecole called Haut Enseignement
Commercial (HEC) where I studied business, specializing in
Accounting and Finance.
I continued my education in the United States, and graduated
in 1970 with an MS in Finance from the University of Kansas.
My first job was with a large group of mutual funds, called
Vanguard Group, where my assignment was to lead a project to
automate the computation of the daily pricing of the funds.
I then joined Hallmark Cards in Kansas City as a financial
analyst, focusing on profitability analysis, and financial
models for the independently owned retail stores.
My next position was as Controller of an Agricultural Chemical
Company named Kalo Laboratories. My role was to prepare the
company so that it could be sold, either as a whole or by
product lines.
I joined Marion Laboratories where I held several director
positions. One of my key responsibilities was to replace all
Accounting and Finance systems with best of breed
applications.
When Dow Chemical acquired the company in 1989, I led the post
merger activities for Finance. I was then asked to take over
the rollout of SAP (a large, integrated software system) for
North America.
My next role was to lead the post merger activities for
Finance for Hoechst Marion Roussel for North America. I went
on to participated in the post merger harmonization for all
global Accounting and Finance activities.
I joined a consulting firm in 1996, and managed a very large
SAP rollout for the division of a global pharmaceutical
company. This was a most successful project.
I joined Deloitte Consulting in 1999, where I led several
post-implementation assessment and stabilization projects to
help companies optimize the benefits of their SAP systems. I
am currently working for the Wrigley Company, managing the
roll out of SAP for all functions for the Americas.
I enjoy my career as a consultant, where I have the
opportunity to share my experience, meet new people, and see
how different companies operate. I enjoy travel, and my
favorite hobby is reading. As a board member of S.M.A.R.T. ,a
charitable organization, I participate in medical trips to
Latin America, where we provide surgical, medical and dental
services to indigent patients, and perform cleft lip/palate
surgery on children.
I like to work in a diverse environment, with people from all
over the world.
