Kevin
T. McVary, M.D., is Associate Professor of Urology at Northwestern
University Medical School in Chicago, Illinois, where he is also
Director of Continuing Medical Education, Clinical Update Program,
and Sexual Dysfunction. His hospital appointments include the
following positions: Director, Sexual Dysfunction, Division of
Urology, and Chief, Section of Urology at the Veterans
Administration Lakeside Medical Center; Director, Sexual
Dysfunction, Department of Urology at Northwestern Memorial
Hospital; and Chief, Section of Urology at the Veterans
Administration Crown Point Ambulatory Care Center, all of which are
also in Chicago.
Dr. McVary received his medical degree at Northwestern University
Medical School. He completed his postdoctoral training at
Northwestern Memorial Hospital, including an internship and
residency in general surgery as well as a residency in urology and
was Chief Resident in urology at the Hospital. In addition, he was
granted a Riba Urology Research Fellowship under the direction of
Chung Lee, Ph.D., at Northwestern University Medical School.
A renowned researcher in prostatic disorders and erectile
dysfunction (ED), Dr. McVary is currently and has recently been
principal investigator for more than 40 clinical trials.
Dr. McVarys research has generated more than 100 publications
including refereed journal articles, books, book chapters, and
abstracts. His work has appeared in prominent journals such as the Journal
of Urology, International Journal of Impotence Research, and
Urology. He was coauthor of a very recent article in the Journal
of Urology entitled Smoking and Erectile Dysfunction:
Evidence-Based Analysis. Among his many editorial
responsibilities are consultant for the Journal of Andrology,
Journal of Urology, Urology, Journal of Investigative Urology,
and book reviewer for the Journal of Urology.
A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and Diplomat of the
American Urological Association, Dr. McVary is also an active member
of many other organizations: Society for Basic Urologic Research,
American Society of Andrology, Society for Urologic Oncology,
Society for the Study of Impotence/Sexual Medicine Society,
International Society of Impotence Research, and Societe
Internationale dmUrologie. Notably, Dr. McVary is a committee
member of the World Health Organization sponsored consultation on
ED.
