Teresa Andrews Searcy was raised in Arkansas. She graduated from Hall High School and attended school at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma and graduated with an undergrad in Theology from Vision University in San Diego, California. She is married to Michael J. Searcy and together they have two daughters. She is also the grandmother of four.

In years past she has chaired committees for Central Exchange, been a Girl Scout Troop Leader, volunteered to help the poor in the Hispanic Community in Kansas City, is active in her church and was recognized as Business Woman of the Year in 1994 by Business Women Unlimited.

Teresa finds great satisfaction in helping people less fortunate than herself. Teresa founded S.M.A.R.T. in 1991. She and her husband have pulled together plastic surgery, orthopedic surgery, eye surgery, urology surgery, general practice, chiropractic, dentistry, and eyeglass teams. The general practice teams alone have served over 25,000 people in Central America in the last eleven years. Life changing, major surgeries have been performed on over 2,000 children free of charge since these teams have been in operation.

Teresa is the Past President of the Kansas City South Lions Club and the former International Relations chairperson for the local Kansas Lions District. The International Lions Club organization recognized Teresa with the coveted Top Ten International Understanding and Cooperation Award in 1995 for her work in Central America. She also received the Lions Distinguished Service Award in 1997.

Teresa has led over 100 medical teams into Central America and has plans to continue this volunteer commitment for many years to come.
